How do I set up or change a name on a water account?

To start service in your name, please fill out the online application.  All locations require a deposit of $150.00, even if you have service at another location or have been a previous customer.  There is an account fee of $50.00 inside the city limits or $62.50 outside the city limits.

When do I get my deposit back?

Deposit is subject to refund under the following conditions:

  • Applied to an active account after 3 years of satisfactory payment history.
  • Applied to the final bill or balance of the account.  Any remaining funds will be issued by check and mailed to the forwarding address provided.

Why does my address on the water bill have "SS"?

SS on the address line of a water bill indicates it is for a sprinkler system.

I received a letter about installing a backflow.  What does this mean?

Backflow devices are required on all potable sprinkler systems (if they have their own meter) and on all commercial locations.  If you have questions about backflows or these devices, please contact the Cross Connection Control Division at (850) 233-5100.

How do I know if I have a leak?

To check for a leak at a location follow these steps:

  • Make sure you are not actively using water in the home; appliances are off, refrain from flushing toilets, and all faucets are turned to the off position.
  • Locate your water meter and carefully remove the lid.  You may need to clear sand and debris.
  • The top of the meter has a reading on it; there may or may not be a flip tab to see the reading.  The reading should remain steady and will not change if you are not using water.
  • To check for slower leaks, write down the number, refrain from water consumption and then re-check the reading.  It should be the same.
  • If you have a leak, you will need to contact a leak detection company or a plumber.

What is reclaimed/reuse water?

Reclaimed water is non-potable (not drinkable) water, and available in certain sections of the City for irrigation purposes only.  There are certain requirements to have reclaimed water for irrigation.  Please call (850) 233-5100, ext. 3 to see if this is available in your area.

I am building a new home.  How do I get a water meter?

To obtain a building permit, you are required to pay water and sewer impact fees first.  Please submit your plans to waterandsewerimpactfees@pcbfl.gov for fee calculation.  Please contact Chase Hakenewert at (850) 233-5100, ext. 6869 with questions.

I want to switch from septic to sewer.  How do I connect?

Please contact Water and Sewer Impact Fees to find out if sewer is available in your area.  The City requires that you pay impact fees for the connection to the sewer.  The City does not switch the property to the sewer.  You will need to hire a licensed plumber to switch you over at your cost.  Bay County Health Department regulates septic tanks and septic tank decommissions.  If you have any questions about septic, please call Florida Department of Health Bay County (850) 872-4455.

Please submit the following paperwork to waterandsewerimpactfees@pcbfl.gov for fee calculation.  Please contact Chase Hakenewert at (850) 233-5100, ext. 6869 with questions.
